The Department is seeking a partner to perform farming activities within Proud Lake Recreation Area. Farming activities within Michigan State Park and Recreation Area boundaries is used as a tool in helping prevent the spread of non-native species into public land. By controlling the type of plant species that grow in these areas, the land can more easily be transitioned to wildlife habitat in the future. The total area to be farmed is approximately 124.4 acres. Annually, prior to conducting farming activities, the selected bidder will be required to submit a Farming Plan for Department approval prior to beginning operations. The Farming Plan must include the type of crop or crops to be planted and the following if used: fertilizer, pesticide and/or weed-control product information such as the amount, brand, and application method.
