1. Timber Sale Administration • Identifies timber harvest sites using photos, maps, and other records • Makes silvicultural recommendation • Verifies land ownership • Marks cutting unit boundaries • Determines timber volume and estimates value • Monitors activities of contractor during harvest • Inspects completed project 2. Reforestation Administration • Identifies reforestation sites • Verifies land ownership • Makes silvicultural recommendation • Marks boundaries if needed • Monitors site preparation (disc trenching, etc.) • Determines sufficiency of soil moisture before planting • Monitors planting for contract compliance • Inspects completed project 3. Other Services • Inventory • Wildlife related projects • Fire/insect damage assessment • Timber trespass assessment • Provides staffing to Marquette County Forestry Commission (as needed monthly meeting, various reports) • Participates in Forest Management Plan updates • Other duties related to professional forest management
