Snow removal includes, snow plowing of parking lots, snow removal of the sidewalks immediately adjacent to parking lots (from the south set of garbage cans to the end of the south lot and from the north set of garbage cans to the end of the north), deicing of parking lots and sidewalks (no sanding), and heavy equipment removal of snowbanks as requested by Program Manager. Snow Plowing/Removal: When Snowfall exceeds two (2) inches or more, the vendor shall plow the parking lots and plow or shovel the adjacent sidewalks prior to 7:00 A.M. and as needed during the day between 7:00A.M. and 7:00 P.M., 7 (seven) days per week. This contract includes holidays and weekends. Deicer : Deicing of the parking areas and sidewalks. Salt only, no sand Heavy Snow Removal : Removal of heavy accumulations of snow stockpiles requiring the use of heavy equipment to push back stockpiles or move snow to other locations per request of Program Manager. Requirements General Requirements Snow removal from parking areas and sidewalks when snow exceeds two (2) inches or more. De-icing of parking areas and sidewalks, and heavy equipment snow removal upon request. BY STATE LAW: No snow shall be pushed across or onto adjacent roads and shoulders. The snow must not be plowed to cause a vision obstruction or hazard to the public. All parking spots and ADA ramps must be clear of snow and ice at all times. The contractor may have to come in with a loader to push snow back off parking spots as requested by program manager Snow plowing and/or salt application shall be completed by 6:30 a.m. All sidewalks must be cleaned by shovel or snow blower at the time of each service. Snow depths will be verified with the officially recorded depths at the local meteorological center. Rock salt shall NOT be used as a de-icing agent on sidewalks. Only Calcium Chloride or a product approved by MDOT shall be used as de-icing agent on sidewalks. Vehicle-mounted plows shall not be used to clear sidewalks. Only shovel, push snow-blower or equipment approved by MDOT shall be used to clear sidewalks. Under no circumstances shall MDOT be responsible for any damage to the Contractor's equipment due to obstacles encountered.
