This managed solution should include but is not limited to security of the network, monitoring to ensure that the network is working appropriately, managing prisoner and contractor access to the network, and troubleshooting when the network is down. The solution will require the use of devices (tablets, laptops, etc.) that are provided by the contractor or the Department for the prisoners to utilize different applications and services on the new prisoner network. Prisoner application services include but are not limited to video visitation, telephone calls, multimedia services, education, self-help, messaging (between prisoner and MDOC as well as prisoner and friends/family), law library, document repository, prisoner deposits, prisoner debit cards for release, store/commissary ordering, and investigative tools.
