Curriculum materials must have a clear and documented evidence base, preferably by an outside evaluator, grounded in the most up-to-date research. 2. Elementary Content and Emphasis a. Materials are aligned to the criterion in the “Instructional Materials Evaluation Tool (IMET) for K-8 Mathematics specifically K-5”. 3. Pacing and Instructional Design a. Pacing guides outline reasonable timeframes for instruction and assessment. b. Instructional design incorporates or allows for the use of learning intentions and success criteria, direct instruction, guided practice, differentiated grouping, and independent practice. 4. Assessment a. Formative and summative assessments support teachers in guiding instruction to meet the needs of individuals and groups of students. b.
