Specifications include, but are not limited to: Assist the Sheriff’s Office in developing and implementing policies that assure high quality medical and nursing care. Specific policies shall be in force at all times for: 1. Emergency and proper medical treatment of inmates 2. Prescribing appropriate medicines 3. Dental Services for inmates 4. Mental Health Services for inmates 5. Clerical staff for record management B Approve and supervise all medical procedures conducted in the Berrien County Jail, including, but not limited to, the following: 1. Receiving screening procedures 2. Health appraisal data collection procedures 3. Referrals of seriously ill inmates 4. Provision of non-emergency medical services 5. Obtaining emergency medical and dental services 6. Chronic care 7. Convalescent care 8. Preventive maintenance 9. Screening and referral of mentally ill inmates 10. Detoxification 11. Administration of all medicines 12. Medication administration procedures 13. Supervision of medical personnel at the Berrien County Jail 14. Deciding the emergency nature of illness and injury 15. Delousing procedures 16. Disaster triage 17. Monthly and annual reports
