The Contractor will provide grounds maintenance services at the Oakland Transportation Service Center (TSC) office facility located at 800 Vanguard Drive in Pontiac (see Schedule C – Map of Service Location for aerial view of the service area). Grounds maintenance services will include, but may not be limited to, mowing and trimming, blowing hard surfaces, edging, and maintaining plant beds (including spring and fall clean ups), and removing and replacing mulch (the “Contract Activities”). The Contractor will provide sufficient maintenance and care services to keep the office grounds in a consistent, clean, and pleasing landscape. Services will be provided on the prescribed schedule or as-requested by the MDOT Program Manager or designee. REQUIREMENTS General Requirements Contract Activities will include: Mowing and trimming cycle: The regular mowing season is defined as starting May 1 and ending in mid-October. Any mowing cycles before May 1 or after October 31 will require prior written approval from the Program Manager. A mowing cycle shall be completed approximately once per week. Mowing cycle includes edging which shall be completed once every two (2) weeks. The number of cycles may be increased or decreased due to weather conditions or as directed by the Program Manager. Any additional mowing beyond once per week must be approved by the Program Manager, or designee, prior to mowing. Any additional mowing will not be paid for unless approved, and if approved, will be paid at the contract price. Mowing Cycle must not be performed when grass is wet. MDOT reserves the right to reschedule a mowing cycle due to weather at no additional cost. Mowing Cycle must not be performed during drought conditions. All elements of the mowing cycle shall be COMPLETED THE SAME DAY they are started. No partial mowing/trimming/edging will be allowed unless the weather forces delays. If rain or wet turf conditions exist, the Contractor shall finish the cycle as soon as favorable conditions exist.
