Resilient Seated Gate Valves; 1. It is the City's intent to purchase resilient seated gate valves. 2. The gate valves will be purchased on an as needed basis throughout the coming year; 3. The gate valves bid shall be manufactured and tested to meet or exceed the requirements of AWWA standard C509 and UL262. 4. Bids shall only be accepted by the following brands – no alternate bids shall be considered: A. American AVK Series 45; B. American Flow Control Series 2500, or C. East Jordan Iron Works C-515-Flowmaster; 5. All valves shall meet the following specifications: A. Shall have a 250 p.s.i. design pressure rating and a test pressure of 500 p.s.i. B. Valve body, bonnet and solid gate shall be cast of ductile iron in accordance with ASTM A536 and shall be totally encapsulated with an epoxy coating. C. Gate shall be ductile iron and shall be totally encapsulated in rubber. This rubber coating shall be permanently bonded to the ductile iron wedge casting and shall meet ASTM D429 tests for rubber to metal bonding. D. Valve stem shall be made of high strength manganese bronze or series 400 stainless steel with a minimum 40,000 psi yield strength. E. Stem seal shall have two O-ring seals in the seal plate, which shall be replaceable with the valve in the full open position at rated working pressure. F. All ferrous cast surfaces shall be coated with a fusion-bonded epoxy in accordance with AWWA C550. G. The valve ends shall be mechanical joint and comply with AWWA C111. 6. All accessories shall be included, i.e. glands, nuts, bolts and gaskets.
