The Management Services Division (MSD) requires the following services for eight (8) horses assigned to the City of Detroit’s Metropolitan Division – Mounted Section. • Ability to provide services on site at Mounted Division barn in the area of E. 7 Mile and Woodward • Inspection • Trimming • Trim and balance hooves • Shoe Hooves (shoes must be steel) • Must have experience with the application of steel shoes. • Hoof pads on front hooves • Treat injuries (as needed) • Assess lameness • Corrective Shoeing • Regular appointments every two (2) weeks per horse. • Regular re-shoeing appointments every six (6) weeks per horse. • Shoes should be repaired, as appropriate, and re-used • Borium (tungsten carbide) points applied to all shoes • Provide all necessary tools and equipment needed to provide the needed services All services and needs of the Mounted Section horses cannot be known, and the above list should be considered exhaustive in nature. Care and treatment shall comply with accepted industry standards in the State of Michigan. Commander Ian Severy, of the Metropolitan Division has reviewed and approved the scope of work.
