Specifications include, but are not limited to: Services will be required at the onset of accumulating snow or ice. Contractor must salt or de-ice all surfaces upon the start of accumulating snow or ice. Contractor must begin plowing services once snow or ice has reached two (2) inches. The bidder will be responsible for both material and application of deciding products used on lots. The trade name and chemical composition of the deicing product must be included with the bid. The City of Auburn Hills reserves the right to conduct a chemical analysis of all ice melting compounds used as part of this contract. All related MSDS forms must be submitted if selected for the bid. Equipment used for snow removal in the parking structure must have a wheel load of no more than 3,000 pounds, or less than 50 pounds per square foot. Deicers should be safe for parking structure use. Sodium or calcium chloride (rock salt) shall not be used. Urea based or sodium acetate products are recommended. Any proposed deicing products used within the structure must meet Precast/Pre-stressed Concrete Institute (PCI) standards. Plows and other equipment that come in contact with the driving surface must have well maintained rubber blades or brooms to minimize damage to the deck surface.
