Project Manager Abrams, under Program Executive Office, Ground Combat Systems (PEO GCS), is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) as a means of conducting market research to identify eligible parties having the interest, resources, and required security clearance to perform design, integration, and validation of armor and other survivability-related enhancements applicable to existing and future Abrams Tank Systems. The contractor will perform design, integration, procurement, and fabrication of ballistic test hardware, and will provide technical support for each Government-provided armor or survivability improvement. Final integration of classified designs will be depicted in computer aided design (CAD) three-dimensional models and will need to be compatible with computer-aided manufacturing software and processes. Interested sources shall provide a capabilities statement detailing their extensive knowledge of the Abrams M1A2 system, with a full understanding of the complexities of the vehicle armor design, integrated component interfaces, and techniques needed to modify and improve the tank?s armor. Additionally, interested sources shall submit evidence that they can provide the following: facilities approved for processing information up to the Top Secret/Special Access Program level; personnel with the specific skills necessary to manage the storage, processing, and protection of classified information and hardware up to the Top Secret/Special Access Program level; and compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements for the shipping, receiving, storage, and handling of radioactive material.This RFI is not a request for competitive proposals. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct competitive procurement.
