Specifications include, but are not limited to: Option 1 Description - This work consists of furnishing and delivering delineator posts, bases, and bolts to secure to roadway, in accordance to the applicable sections of the standard specifications and this special provision. Products must conform to industry standards. Design - The delineator post shall consist of a cylindrical, tubular post a minimum of 3 inches wide, with a circular base and top cap. Bases shall use anchor bolts for secure mounting on concrete and asphalt roadway surfaces. All delineator posts shall be capable of sustaining a minimum of 100 direct wheel-over impacts at 70 MPH (112 km/h) without experiencing failure. Posts should remain durable and flexible at low and high temperatures (-20° F to 160° F). All posts shall be easily replaceable and made to install in both concrete and asphalt. Posts shall have 360° visibility with factory-applied reflective sheeting. All posts shall be constructed of solid, one-piece thermoplastic polyurethane that absorbs impacts and rebounds instantly. Bases - Delineator posts shall mount to a circular base unit with four reusable anchor bolts. For highest visibility, posts shall be mounted to bases of the same color. Bases shall be 1/4" thick and 6" wide in order to create as narrow a footprint as possible. Bases shall not utilize removable pins. Standard Colors - Delineator posts and bases shall be constructed of UV-stabilized polymers and colors. Posts shall be available in colors of white and yellow. Reflective Sheeting - All posts shall have retro-reflective sheeting applied. The minimum reflective sheeting shall be two (2) 4-inch wide wraps of sheeting, one (1) inch down from the top of the post with a two (2) inch gap between wraps. Reflective sheeting shall be available in colors of white, green, and yellow. Lengths - Delineator posts shall be available in length of 36 inches, as specified in the construction plans or procurement details. Certifications/Approvals - The delineator posts shall be fully crash-tested and meet requirements for channelizing devices as specified in NCHRP Report # 350. All delineator posts shall be MUTCD compliant and MASH-16 compliant. Certifications of acceptance to these standards must be supplied by the manufacturer upon request. Construction - Delineator posts shall be secured to the roadway with removable and reusable HCA Hilti Coil Anchors. Anchors shall come in lengths of 3 inches for installation in concrete and 5 inches for installation in asphalt. All delineator posts shall be completely removable with standard power tools. On bridges, posts shall be adhered to the roadway with approved adhesive. Posts shall use a square to round design, with round post, circular cap, and square base. Bases shall use anchor bolts for secure mounting on concrete and asphalt roadway surfaces. All delineator posts shall be capable of sustaining a minimum of 100 direct wheel-over impacts at 70 MPH (112 km/h) without experiencing failure. Posts should remain durable and flexible at temperatures as low as -40°F (-40°C). Posts shall be easily replaceable independent of base. Posts shall have 360° visibility with two sheets of applied reflective sheeting. All posts shall be constructed of one-piece, molded polyurethane that absorbs impacts and rebounds immediately. Bases - Delineator posts shall mount to a square base unit with dimensions of 7 inches by 7 inches, with four reusable hex anchor bolts, 5/8" nylon plugs, and washers. For highest visibility, posts shall be mounted to bases of the same color. Bases shall come with a Lshaped removable pin for quick release and replacement of post. The L-shaped pin should be independently replaceable by hand without the use of a specialized tool. Standard Colors - Delineator posts and bases shall be constructed of UV-stabilized polymers and colors. Posts shall be available in colors of white, green, and yellow. Reflective Sheeting - All posts shall have retro-reflective sheeting applied. The minimum reflective sheeting shall be two (2) 3-inch wide wraps of sheeting with 360° visibility, with one (1) inch of space between each wrapping. Reflective sheeting shall be available in colors of white, green, and yellow. Lengths - Delineator posts shall be available in lengths from 18 to 48 inches, as specified in the construction plans or procurement details. Certifications/Approvals - The delineator posts shall be fully crash-tested and meet requirements for channelizing devices as specified in NCHRP Report # 350. All delineator posts shall be MUTCD compliant and meet the crash requirements of MASH, 2nd Edition Category 1 Traffic Control Devices. Certifications of acceptance to these standards must be supplied by the manufacturer upon request. Construction - Delineator posts shall be secured to the roadway with removable hex anchor bolts. Anchors shall come in lengths of at least 3 inches. All delineator posts shall be completely removable with standard power tools. On bridges, posts shall be adhered to the roadway with approved adhesive. Option 3 Description - This work consists of furnishing and delivering delineator posts, bases, epoxy, and bolts to secure to roadway, in accordance to the applicable sections of the standard specifications and this special provision. Products must conform to industry standards. Design - The delineator post shall utilize a flat construction with a slight curve along the post's width, designed for optimal protection of attached reflective sheeting. Posts shall be constructed of fiberglass, rubber, and steel, with no plastic components. Posts shall have a diameter of 4 inches (10.2 cm) and a width of 0.1 (0.3 cm) inches, with a rectangular rubber base. Bases shall utilize steel anchors for secure mounting on concrete and asphalt roadway surfaces. Bases should utilize a rubber hinge, designed to flex and rebound back into place when hit. All delineator posts shall be capable of sustaining the weight of heavy vehicles and direct wheel impacts at at least 50 MPH (80 km/h) without experiencing failure. Posts should remain durable and flexible at low and high temperatures and should be built to withstand winter conditions. Posts shall be easily removable in the fall/winter and easily reinstalled in the spring, in order to accommodate winter weather. Posts shall come with four (4) patches of reflective sheeting for optimal visibility. All posts shall be constructed of durable fiberglass that absorbs impacts and rebounds instantly. Bases - Delineator posts shall mount to a rectangular base unit with four reusable steel anchors. Bases shall be black and constructed of rubber and steel. When mounted on asphalt, anchors shall use Bitu-Link epoxy for extra adherence to the road surface. Dispensing gun for the epoxy shall be supplied by the distributor. Standard Colors - Posts shall be available in the color of white. Reflective Sheeting - All posts shall have retro-reflective sheeting applied. The minimum reflective sheeting shall be four (4) 80 mm (3.1 inch) wide wraps of sheeting, with a distance between sheeting of 56 mm (2.2 inches). Reflective sheeting shall be available in colors of white and green. Sheeting shall be recessed into the post's surface to prevent peeling, using a slightly concave design. Lengths - Delineator posts shall be available in the length of 48 inches, as specified in the construction plans or procurement details. Certifications/Approvals - The delineator posts shall be fully crash-tested and shall be MUTCD compliant. Certifications of acceptance to these standards must be supplied by the manufacturer upon request. Construction - Delineator posts shall be secured to the roadway with removable steel anchors. Anchors shall be supplemented with Bitu-Link epoxy when installed in asphalt. All delineator posts shall be completely removable with standard power tools. On bridges, posts shall be adhered to the roadway with epoxy.
