Respondents must be able to offer/perform the following: • Online courses • In-person courses o Held at DPD facilities, with class sizes limited to 12 people. o Held at vendor’s facility – located within 50 miles of the City of Detroit • Train approximately 180 members annually for Modules 1 and 2, and continuing education requirements Module I o A 40-hour Basic Telecommunicator Course approved by the State 911 Committee (SNC) which includes, at a minimum, the following: ▪ Overview of Public Safety - Police, Fire, and EMS ▪ Telecommunicator Roles and Responsibilities ▪ Legal Aspects of Public Safety Communications ▪ Interpersonal Communications ▪ Public Safety Technologies ▪ Telephone Techniques/ Call Management ▪ Call Classification ▪ Radio Communications ▪ Stress Management ▪ Telecommunication Essentials ▪ Disaster Readiness for Emergency Telecommunicators ▪ Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement Module 2 o An additional 40-hours of instruction that includes the following SNC approved courses: ▪ Domestic Violence ▪ Suicide Intervention ▪ 911 Liability ▪ Stress Management ▪ Homeland Security Elective Courses to be offered in five (5) 8-hour sessions
