Specifications include, but are not limited to: Stand 65 (PU 1) – Harvest all species present. Patch retention 3 - 10%. Leave all oak where present. Steep slopes may serve as retention and mature aspen will provide food for wintering grouse. Acreage may change by 25%. Stand 69 (PU 5) – Harvest all species present except retain hemlock and one white pine per acre for bear escape trees. Pocket retention 3 - 5%. Lowland inclusions and steep slopes will serve as retention. Acreage may change by 25%. Stand 70 (PU 4) – Retain ~120 Basal Area (BA) of red pine while harvesting all other species present except retain all oak for wildlife food source. Acreage may change by 25%. Stand 72 (PU 2) – Retain 10-30 BA of red and white pine where present in scattered clumps to mitigate blowdown. These will serve as escape trees for bear. Harvest all other species. Acreage may change by 25%. Stand 75 (PU 7) – Harvest all species to preserve grouse habitat. No retention based on small acreage. Acreage may change by 25%. Stand 78 (PU’s 6, 10 & 11) – Harvest all species present while retaining all hemlock and a representation of red and white pine where present. Retain some large aspen and/or birch in the red pine for cavity nesters. Pocket retention 3 - 10% of stand area. Acreage may change by 25%. Stand 79 (PU 3) – Cut all species present leaving pocket retention 3 - 5%. Buffer the river according to BMP guidelines which may serve as retention and as a wildlife travel corridor. Acreage may change by 25%. Stand 80 (PU 9) – Harvest all species present. Retain any super canopy trees for future nest trees where present. Retain some mature aspen and/or birch in the red line for cavity nesters. Pocket retention 3 - 5%. Acreage may change by 25%. Stand 81 (PU’s 12 & 16) – Harvest all species present. Retain some larger red and white pine for a diverse seed source and bear escape trees. Patch retention 3 - 5%. Acreage may change by 25%. Stand 82 (PU’s 13, 14 & 15) – Harvest all species present except retain a representation of red and/or white pine for a diverse seed source. Retain birch and/or aspen in the red line for cavity nesters. Pocket retention 3 - 5%. Acreage may change by 25%. Stand 84 (PU’s 17, 18 & 19) – Harvest all species present creating a new age class of regeneration. Retain mature aspen and/or birch in the red line for wintering grouse. Patch retention 3 - 10%. Diverse wet and/or steep areas may serve as retention. Acreage may change by 25%. Stand 88 (PU 8) – Retain 40 BA of red maple, red and white pine. Retain all hemlock. Retain cedar unless needed for maneuverability. Harvest all other species including aspen, birch, spruce and fir. Acreage may change by 25%.
