Specifications include, but are not limited to: - Stand 30: Thin to 50-60 BA. Leave all hemlock. There are wet areas/vernal ponds throughout that will need to be excluded from the harvest to avoid disrupting/rutting sensitive soils. - Stand 40: Seed tree leaving 10-30 BA. Leave behind best form trees. - Stand 42: Seed tree leaving 10-30 BA of evenly spaced and healthy 16"+ white pine and red pine. Leave all hemlock. - Stands 46 & 79: Thin to 50-70 BA. Remove all beech, except those that appear healthy. Take care to protect any groups of 5 or more yellow birch and hemlock. Do not cut hemlock, yellow birch or white pine over 18" at DBH. Mark hemlock only for operability. - Stand 49: Thin to 50-60 BA. Take care to leave diversity where present. Target trees for harvest that will be out of size class next entry period. RESTRICTIONS 1. Forest Resources Division must be able to identify who did what on the timber sale. 2. The contractor may not have more than two markers in one cruise unit without prior approval. 3. Each marker should have an assigned area to mark (not strips). PAINT 4. Call Matt Payment at (906) 291-0132 to make arrangements for paint. 5. Paint will be supplied from the Newberry Field Office. 6. Contractor’s work schedule must coincide with the DNR work schedule for paint supply. 7. The DNR will not be available on weekends or evenings. DELIVERABLES 8. A list of names that marked or cruised each cruise unit. 9. A summary of paint used (in quarts). 10. All data, cruise and GPS, must be uploaded from MobileMap to InventoryManager.
