Specifications include, but are not limited to: - Stand 6: Mark to cut, thinning stand down to an average residual BA of 95 sq ft (85-105 sq ft). Target removal of poor formed and defected red pine. Avoid marking oak unless needed for operability. - Stand 8: Mark to leave. Target healthy, good formed oak to leave to an average residual BA of 40 sq ft (30-50 sq ft). Where oak is less dense (under 40 BA), leave healthy red pine. Do not count open areas towards residual BA. - Stand 28: Mark to cut, thinning stand down to an average residual BA of 120 sq ft (110-130 sq ft). Release healthy, good quality white oaks on 3 sides leaving the windward side protected (removing competing trees from the North, East and South aspects). Where white oak is not present, target the removal of poor formed, defected red pine. Do not cut white pine or aspen unless needed for operability. - Stand 36: Mark to cut, thinning stand down to an average residual BA of 100 sq ft (90-110 sq ft). Release healthy, good quality white oaks on 3 sides leaving the windward side protected (removing competing trees from the North, East and South aspects). Where white oak is not present, target the removal of poor formed, defected red pine. Do not cut white pine or aspen unless needed for operability.
