Avoid marking to cut any well-formed, dominant red and white pine unless needed to meet basal area requirements. Remove all red maple and jack pine. Where aspen clones are present, remove all aspen trees. Do not mark any red/white pine greater than 19” at DBH. - 7925035013-Cut (VDU 13): Systematic Thinning - Cut two rows, leave 3. Mark the beginning of cut rows. Where rows are not distinct, marking will be necessary to retain the cut two, leave 3 row spacing. Do not cut oak unless it falls within a cut row. Cut all jack pine. - 7925037008-Cut (VDU 8), 7925037014 (VDU 14), 7925037014-5-Cut (VDU 19): Systematic Thinning - Cut two rows, leave 3. Mark the beginning of cut rows. Cut all jack pine. - 7925037007-Cut (VDU 12): Shelterwood - Remove all jack pine and red maple. Mark to leave healthy, dominant, well-formed red/black hybrid oak and white oak. Thin remaining red/black hybrid oak and white oak down to an average residual basal area of 50-60 sq ft. Focusing on leaving dominant, well-formed, healthy oak.
