Specifications include, but are not limited to: Multiple contracts can be awarded. Bids will be accepted for each project area. Areas include Manistique, Roscommon, and Wolverine. Stands are surrounded by red painted trees. Red painted trees cannot be damaged. Red pine will be the primary species to masticate in each stand. The average red pine diameter ranges from 2-3 inches. In addition, all species that are not red pine are required to be masticated. Red pine leave trees will be remain standing on approximately 24ft x 18ft spacing in each stand. The top of each leave tree will be cut at 10 ft in height from the ground. The bole and branches of each tree cannot be damaged below the point that the tree is topped. Stumps must be less than 4 inches in height for all stands. Manistique and Wolverine stands can be treated with snow on the ground, but the stump height requirement still applies regardless of the season. Payment will be withheld until all severed stems have stumps less than 4 inches in height. All vegetation specified to cut must be transposed into chips or branches less than 1 inch in diameter. The contractor will describe the machinery that they intend to use to accomplish this requirement.
