B. Approach to Preparation of Tasks: Applicants should describe their proposed “CVI Zone,” the most significant factors that drive violence in the zone, their proposed CVI tactics, and their rationale for why these CVI tactics will effectively address the factors that drive violence and ultimately reduce homicides and non-fatal shootings. Applicants should include the following information: 1. Proposed CVI Zone: describe the location and boundaries of your proposed CVI Zone that is 2 square miles, as well as your rationale for selecting this geographic area. 2. Factors that Drive Violence: describe the most significant factors that drive violence in the zone. Applicants may draw on many sources of information for this analysis, including knowledge of the local community, other experience, or data or academic research on crime trends; applications should identify which types of information they are drawing on. 3. Proposed CVI Tactics: describe in detail the CVI tactics that your organization would use. This should include not only the type of tactics your organization is proposing (e.g., street outreach, violence interruption, connecting at-risk individuals with services, addressing community conditions, etc.) but also how these services would be delivered. Some questions to consider include: • What tactics will you use? When will be they delivered (e.g., days of the week, hours of the day)? Where will they be delivered (e.g., specific locations or types of locations)? • What staff would you hire to provide these services and what would their roles and responsibilities be? • How would your organization reach individuals at risk?
