Specifications include, but are not limited to: The farm requires an estimated 400 yards of wood shavings for bedding per month. However, this demand is expected to decrease following the anticipated completion of a new farm in Fall 2025/Winter 2026. Post construction, the requirement is anticipated to range between 100-200 yards per month, subject to fluctuations based on a more precise needs assessment. The contract will be valid for three (3) years with the option to extend for two (2) additional one (1) year terms. The type of shavings and size is very important. The shavings must meet the following requirements: • Must be kiln-dried hardwood • Shavings cannot contain chemical-treated or glued wood • Cannot be ground up lumber (no ground pallets) • Must be fine shavings, but not too fine (cannot be dust) • Average piece of shaving is about ½” in length and ½” in width • The supplier’s vehicle must unload the shavings using a belt. The storage facility will not accept dump trucks/trailers. • Partial deliveries will be expected about every 10 business days • Supplier must be able to meet our monthly requirements • Potential suppliers must send a sample to the Dairy Farm for evaluation.
