Scope of Tree Removal WorkThe work to be performed under this contract shall consist of furnishing all labor, materials, toolsand equipment required for the removal of city-owned trees and stumps at various locations in theCity of Niles. All trees to be removed have been marked with a pink paint mark. The work shallconsist of cutting trees down to within 6 inches of the adjoining ground level and hauling themaway. Adjoining ground level shall be defined as a point two feet away from the near edge of thestump. Stumps removed shall be removed to a minimum of 6” below grade. In some cases, theremay be extra stump work/grinding required. Said work shall be noted on the removal list. It isencouraged that each bidding contractor to visit each location to ensure that their bid price reflectsthe extra work that may be required. The Contractor shall follow the order as shown on theattached removal list and map unless otherwise approved by the Public Works Director ordesignee.The Contractor shall completely clean up and haul away all tree debrispriorto moving on to thenext removal location. Hand rakes shall be used for cleanup work. Sidewalks, driveways, streetpavement, lawns, curbs, street signs, and any other property damaged by the Contractor shall berepaired by the Contractor as soon as possible and prior to final payment being made. TheContractor shall notify the Public Works Directorat onceshould any damage a result of the treeremoval work. Damaged sod areas shall be top soiled, seeded, and mulched where necessary.Contractor shall only remove trees at locations listed. Should a tree not be marked at a listedaddress, Contractor shall contact the Department of Public Works for location clarification.Treeswhich are marked but not listed should not be removed unless approved in advance by theDirector of Public Works.While an attempt has been made to accurately identify each tree onthe removal list, there may be instances where the identification may be incorrect. In cases suchas these, the Contractor shall still be responsible for the removal of the trees at the unit prices bid,regardless of the species.Scope of Stump Removal WorkThe listed stumps shall be removed to six (6) inches below the adjoining ground level by thestump routing method. Adjoining ground level is defined as a point two feet away from the edge ofthe stump. The locations of the stumps are listed in the proposal hereto. The contractor shallremove the stumps in a consecutive order following the location numbers on the attached locationlist, unless approved otherwise by the Public Works Director or Public Works Superintendent. Insome cases, there may be extra stump work/grinding required. Said work will be noted on theremoval list. It is encouraged that each bidding contractor to visit each location to ensure that theirbid price reflects the extra work that may be required.
