Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) announces its intention to submit a grant application in response to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Mental Health Services, SM-24-005 Cooperative Agreements for the Garrett Lee Smith State/Tribal Youth Suicide Prevention and Early Intervention Program. SAMHSA will award up to twenty (20) grants to eligible applicants for up to $735,00 per year for up to 5 years. The purpose of this grant program is to support states and Tribes with implementing youth (up to age 24) suicide prevention and early intervention strategies in schools, educational institutions, juvenile justice systems, substance use and mental health programs, foster care systems, pediatric health programs, and other child- and youth-serving organizations. With this program, SAMHSA aims to: (1) increase the number of youth-serving organizations who are able to identify and work with youth at risk of suicide; (2) increase the capacity of clinical service providers to assess, manage, and treat youth at risk of suicide; and (3) improve the continuity of care and follow-up of youth identified to be at risk for suicide, including those who have been discharged from emergency department and inpatient psychiatric units.
