In February 2023, the State 911 Department (Department) issued BD-23-1044-EPS90-1044E-84666 for the operation and maintenance of the next generation 911 system. In this bid, the Department proposed its five year improvement plan for this system. A contract was awarded to NextGen Communications Inc, dba Comtech, with a contract start date of August 1, 2024. The Department, in compliance with the above referenced RFR, is moving forward with its improvement plan, specifically replacement of its call handling software. The State 911 Department will be issuing a request for information (RFI) in November 2024. This RFI will provide further information relative to the existing next generation 911 system, its call handling software and expectations for its replacement. Interested vendors will be provided an opportunity to submit written responses showcasing its call handling software product(s) and its applicability to a 911 environment. In addition, interested bidders may be provided an opportunity to demonstrate for stakeholders its proposed solution(s). This will be further detailed in the RFI to be released.
