Specifications include, but are not limited to: The first phase of work for the design team will be a comprehensive study of the entire building and its infrastructure and programmatic needs to define the base scope as noted, and alternate or future phase scopes aligned with available funding levels. It is expected that the successful design team will prepare multiple options for the campus to consider that accomplish the highest priorities of the campus consistent with the available funds. Assuming the amount of state funding allocated to the project is known in June 2022, it should be well-timed to align with the completion of the study phase. It is expected that the design team and its consultants will organize and lead a visioning, brain-storming, and goal setting process with the campus’s project Steering Committee and Facilities staff. The Steering Committee will be chaired by the Dean of the Kennedy College of Sciences and will include representatives from the Dean’s office, academic departments in Olney, facilities, and EH&S. This process shall include tour(s) of precedent projects from the designer’s portfolio. In addition, the design team will be expected to participate in periodic design reviews and/or open house events, with users and various campus service providers, ranging from facilities operations to IT to food service, beginning during the study phase and at key milestones during the design process. Many of these reviews will occur using virtual meeting platforms. It is also expected the project will advance the Campus climate action and carbon reduction goals.
