Specifications include, but are not limited to: These specifications include but are not limited to, the following types of Equipment/Appliances, in both gas and electric versions, at each facility, where applicable: convection ovens, combi ovens, impinging ovens, conveyor ovens, tilt skillets, food steamers, ranges, induction burners, panini presses, grills, mixers, buffalo choppers, dish washers, holding cabinets, merchandizing warmers, serving lines with hot and cold wells, etc. Repair The successful bidder shall examine the unit for causes, which may have led to the failure; repair not only the failed portion, but also rehabilitate any other elements which appear to be in need of maintenance. The successful bidder shall comply firstly with the servicing techniques required and/or recommended by the Manufacturer of the item and secondly with generally accepted repair practices for the class of items to which the unit belongs. In particular, for any item still believed to be under warranty, conform exactly to the Manufacturer’s requirements; advise the Cambridge School Department of any recourse it may have with the original Equipment/Appliance manufacturer. As a part of repair, the successful bidder shall check all field-adjustable settings and field-measurable tolerances; reset these to original factory compliance; advise the Cambridge School Department of any such settings/tolerances that cannot be repaired or for which the cost of repairs suggests that replacement unit be considered. Should it be determined during the initial assessment that the reason for equipment/appliance malfunction is due to issues with the utilities that connect to the equipment (gas, electric, plumbing) the technician must stop work immediately and notify the director of Food and Nutrition services immediately. Repair and Replacement Materials All repair and replacement materials used shall be first quality with preference given to replacement parts as manufactured by the original Equipment/Appliance manufacturer (OEM); the successful bidder shall use these parts whenever available and always when a manufacturer’s warranty, still in effect, would otherwise be voided. In the event new major parts or components costing over five hundred dollars ($500.00) should be required, the successful bidder shall advise the Foodservices Director and obtain the Director’s approval prior to performing said work. The Foodservice Director may request a separate job quote for such work. In an emergency situation, the Foodservices Director’s approval may be obtained by telephone. The Cambridge School Department reserves the right to purchase items costing over fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500.00) direct, if it is in its best interest to do so.
