Specifications include, but are not limited to: Provide more high school students with the opportunity for paid STEM-focused internships, therefore potentially increasing the number of students who pursue majors and careers in STEM fields; Increase the number of employers offering paid STEM-focused internships to high school students, Increase the number of students participating in STEM-focused internships who are underrepresented in STEM including students of color, women, low-income students, first-generation students, English language learners and students with disabilities, Encourage aligned employer engagement in relation to Innovation Pathways or Early College programs in schools across the Commonwealth, Strengthen the capacity of the state’s local MassHire Workforce Boards to focus on recruiting employers to engage with local students in career exploration and immersion activities, with a particular focus on building a talent pipeline for STEM jobs, Create a community of practice and set of best practices to share across the Commonwealth, focused on recruiting and maintaining relationships with employers who offer paid STEM internships to high school students.
