Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. Comprehensive Design Services The Town of Amherst is seeking to commission one firm to provide all design services necessary to complete all required documents and perform construction administration for the project. The selected firm will have the responsibility to provide these comprehensive design services through the firm’s own capabilities and sub-consultants as necessary. This project is expected to require several disciplines typically included in an architectural design project not limited to architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, plumbing, energy efficiency, as well as those other disciplines for any needed special inspections and specialty services, i.e., commercial kitchen design. Additional areas of expertise such as cost estimating, code research, or any other service needed for the complete design of the project are the responsibility of the selected firm and their design team provided by either inhouse personnel or through engaging sub-consultants. Services shall include but not be limited to: 1. Meet with Facilities Department staff along with department heads from and representatives of service providers operating out of the Bang’s Community Center to gain full understanding of the project, review the project goals and schedule, understand the building program needs, discuss design options, and report on progress. 2. Meet with Town Officials as necessary to review codes, zoning, various board and committee review applicability and procedures, and permitting and approval process. 3. Conduct thorough site analysis of the existing building to understand existing systems, limitations, requirements for upgraded code compliance and use of spaces. 4. Develop existing conditions drawings and design options for staff consideration and selection of preferred option. 5. Prepare presentation materials of selected design with cost estimates and attend various board and committee review meetings. 6. Provide report of energy compliance approach and review with Town Official to ensure the Town’s climate action goals are satisfied. 7. Provide bid ready documents with drawings and specification and participate in the bidding process with site walkthrough, questions, addendum issuance and proposal review. 8. Prepare construction documents for contractors use for permitting and construction. Assist with any questions during Town Official review and permitting process. 9. Construction Administration by all applicable disciplines with construction control certifications, field reports, submittal review, progress inspections, weekly site meetings, final approval and approval of all contractor request for payment.
