The purpose of this project is to replace two (2) existing HB Smith cast-iron hot-water boilers at Williams Intermediate School — Boiler #4 (currently inoperable) and one additional boiler identified by the District as closest to its end of service life. The work includes demolition and removal of existing boilers, installation of two (2) new HB Smith BRTS/28HE-8, C.I. Knock Down water boilers or approved equivalents, reconnection to existing systems, with all necessary modifications, insulation, start-up, and commissioning. The existing Power Flame burners shall be retained, inspected, and reused. All project work will be brought in through the back loading dock doors. The basis of design for this project is the HB Smith BRTS/28HE-8 Cast-Iron Knock-Down Hot-Water Boiler (or District-approved equal). Equivalent products must meet or exceed the following minimum specifications: - Cast-iron sectional construction, field-assembled - Output rating approximately 850,000 BTU/hr per unit - Minimum 80% combustion efficiency - Compatible with Power Flame burners - Graphite port connectors and ceramic fiber flue gas seals - Integral flue collector and breeching damper - Front and side access covers for inspection and cleaning - Rugged 3" insulated jacket - ASME “H” stamped for hot water service - Manufacturer warranty of not less than two (2) years
