The work shall consist of the repair and maintenance of the distribution water main and water service pipelines utilizing plant fabricated pipe and other appurtenant materials, installed for conveyance of potable water. The work includes the relocation installation repair and general maintenance existing and new facilities, as specified. Work may be performed on an as-needed emergency basis or as planned maintenance. Vendors will need to be available on a 24/7 basis for asneeded emergency work. The Contractor shall have a minimum of a three (3) man crew and equipment in sufficient quantity to perform the job in the most efficient and timely manner in keeping with good waterworks practices. The three (3) man crew shall consist of, at a minimum, one (1) licensed equipment operator, one (1) lead man and one (1) laborer. Work crews shall not exceed minimum requirements unless specified by Water Department personnel. Work crews are required to be on-site within ninety (90) minutes of notification from the Town for all emergency work. The Contractor shall remove, and dispose of any wet or unacceptable excavated materials, and shall replace said materials with clean, compactable, dry fill. Excavations in a paved or traveled State highway shall be replaced by the Contractor in conformance with and subject to all terms, conditions, and restrictions as printed or written on the road opening permit. All work and materials used shall conform to the current edition of the "Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Works Specifications for Highways and Bridges" as amended.
