Base Bid: 1. The Work included in the Base Bid includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following: a. The furnishing, installation, disinfection, and testing of approximately 11,985 linear feet of 8-inch cement lined ductile iron water main and the removal and/or abandonment in place of the existing water mains ranging in size from 4-inch to 8- inch, including new water service connections and curb stops, installation of gate valves and fittings, new hydrants, pipe restraint, and appurtenances. Removed water main and appurtenances are to be properly disposed of. b. Installation and maintenance of a temporary water main bypass as necessary during construction including assembly, breakdown, disinfection, and temporary connections to homes. c. The cleaning, televising, and structural rehabilitation of approximately 8,750 linear feet of sewer and storm drain ranging in size from 6-inch to 12-inch using cured in place pipe (CIPP) lining, full-wrap lateral connection liners, rehabilitation of existing sewer manholes, excavated point repairs to the existing sewer, and sewer bypass pumping. 2. The restoration of trenches with pavement and concrete to match existing pavement thicknesses and grades. Initial temporary trench restoration to include four inches of hot mix asphalt binder course and final trench restoration to include two inches of binder course and two inches of top course hot mix asphalt in roadway. 3. The full width mill and overlay of all streets within the project limits with 2.5-inches of 12.5mm superpave intermediate course and 1.5-inches of 9.5mm superpave surface course. Protection and adjustment of all municipal castings, coordination with electric, gas, and telecommunication utilities etc. for adjustment of private utility castings ahead of final paving operations. 4. Loaming and seeding, erosion control, restoration of private irrigation systems, restoration of landscaping; and maintenance of seeded areas and planting. 5. Coordination with gas, electric, cable, and telecommunication utilities. 6. Excavation and removal of rock and boulder if necessary to complete the project. C. Additive Alternate 1: 1. This work includes additional structural rehabilitation of approximately 2,120 linear feet of sewer ranging in size from 6-inch to 8-inch via CIPP lining, removal of protruding laterals, manhole rehabilitation and corbel lining, full wrap lateral lining of sewer service connections, and reinstatement of service connections to the sewer main. 2. This work also includes furnishing and installing granite curb inlets for all drainage structures, removal and replacement of existing catch basin grates, and remodel of existing catch basin including the removal and replacement of existing masonry and concrete, and installation of concrete collars. D. Additive Alternate 2: 1. This work includes the planting of 100 new trees throughout Longmeadow at the direction of the Tree Warden. 2. Roadway improvements including installation of granite curbing, asphalt curbing, furnishing and installing traffic signs, application of pavement markings (crosswalks, stop bars,etc.), installation of concrete sidewalks, demolition of existing concrete sidewalks, and upgrades to pedestrian ADA ramps within the limits of work as shown on the Contract Drawings. 1.4 DIG SAFE A. The Contractor shall be responsible for complying with all applicable Call Dig Safe Rules. B. Call Dig Safe at 1-888-DIG-SAFE (344-7233) at least 72 business hours before excavation on public and private property, rights of ways and easements (excluding weekends and holidays), to mark out the utility locations. 1.5 CONTRACTOR’S USE OF PREMISES A. Minimize damage to access routes and restore damaged areas to their original condition or better. B. Acquire necessary permits, authorizations, and approvals for working in, on or from property, rights-of-way, or easements owned by the Town of Longmeadow. Secure any additional access rights for such work. C. Contractor shall be responsible for securing and obtaining a staging area for storage of equipment and materials to execute the Work. The Contractor is expected to account for a staging area for their use at the time of bidding.
