Specifications include, but are not limited to: Appointments: • Scheduled lessons must be on time, due to rigging and preparation, service time is limited. lessons should run approximately 1 hour. ; • Appointments should be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance, those with appointment have priority over walk-ons.; • Maximum of six people per lesson, for the most efficient and productive lesson, one-on-one instruction are ideal.; • Guests who wish to go beyond the designated sailing area (see Fig 1) must submit a float plan for approval by the University prior to leaving the dock.; • Rigging is key to becoming a sailor/kayaker, and to the lesson. Boats will have only limited rigging prior to a lesson. ; • Upon returning to dock, the Contractor is expected to remove all personal belongings, dispose of trash and secure equipment.; Contractor Employees: • Sailing instructor staff are to be U.S. Sailing Certified small boat level 1 instructors or higher equivalent.; • Rowing staff instructors are to be either British Canoe Union (BCU) or the American Canoe Association (ACA) certified.; • The Contractor shall provide a sufficient number of qualified, competent employees to provide efficient service to the public and the University community. ; • A minimum of two staff made up of a site manager and safety launch operator at all times. Additional instructors brought in when needed for scheduled lessons and high-volume dates.; • The Contractor shall ensure that its employees are knowledgeable of and compliant with the standard operating procedures and safety plan published by the Contractor.; • The Contractor shall actively seek and give priority to qualified students from University for seasonal employment in the program where appropriate.; • All employees shall wear identifiable uniforms approved in advance by the University.; • The University has the right to remove from its property any Contractor’s employee for inappropriate behavior or failure to abide by sexual harassment regulations.; Supervision: • The University reserves the right to take part in the selection of the Contractor’s Site supervisor. ; • The University also requires a supervisor to be on campus during all hours of operation.; • The University expects that adequate supervision of the service will be provided at all times during the contract. The supervisor shall not be assigned to any other duties during these times without prior approval of the university. It is understood that the supervisor may take a lunch break during midday, but he/she must be available at all operational hours. In the event that the supervisor cannot be on campus during those times, the Contractor shall notify the University.
