L. The work includes the installation of all Contractor-supplied materials and all operations and adjustments required for the restoration of sprinkler fire suppression systems to complete operating status. The types of required work include: 1. Servicing of ball or automatic drips, check valves, F.D. Siamese connections, gauges, water flow alarm devices, retard chambers, drop cup lines and appurtenances, water motor gongs, lines, post indicator valves, OS&Y valves, floor and hose station control valves (but not first-aid fire fighting hoses or nozzles at stations) on standpipe, wet and dry sprinkler, and deluge activating systems. 2. Servicing of all items found in wet sprinkler systems (including replacement of gaskets and diaphragms), air compressor (including proper shut-off, start-up, and trouble bell conditions), low point drains, ball or automatic drips, clapper assembly and seat, pistons priming water system, quick opening devices and exhausters, dry pipe valve housings and cover on dry pipe sprinkler systems. 3. Servicing of fire pumps and jockey pumps, insuring satisfactory operation and start-up, at the required pressure, insuring that the timer operates satisfactorily, insuring that the packing’s do not leak excessively, and insuring that the bearings do not overheat. 4. Flushing of piping systems and two inch (2") drain assembly inspector's test, on wet sprinkler and deluge activating systems. 5. Testing for and repairing leaks from wet and dry sprinkler and deluge activating systems. 6. Any other work commonly performed by sprinkler fitters. 7. Alterations in the location and placement of parts or changes in design will not be tolerated. N. The Contractor's personnel shall sign in upon arrival and shall sign out at departure, at the Physical Plant Plumbing Shop Office, and shall meet with the University Representative to discuss work performance and to verify and seek approval for the services performed during each visit to the University. O. The Contractor shall allow the University to occupy the work areas included under the contract at all times during the contract period. The Contractor shall cooperate with the University to minimize conflict and to facilitate the University occupant’s operations.
