The Office of Waste Management (OWM) in conjunction with the Physical Plant at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking bids from qualified vendors to provide Food Waste Composting Services per the following specifications or approved equal. Scope of Services: 1.1.1 The Office of Waste Management (OWM) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is requesting bids to receive and compost University pre- and post-consumer food waste – as well as biodegradable utensils/plates/cups and packaging. 1.1.2 Delivery of these organic wastes to the successful vendor’s composting facility will commence by September 1, 2025. 1.1.3 The University will ship 34 cy and 15 cy food waste compactors two (2) to three (3) times per week (each) during the academic year and once or twice per month during January, June, July and August. On rare occasions the University will find it necessary to ship food waste in an 18 cy rear load packer truck. 1.1.4 At this time, the University is unable to consider bids which would require it to install and to staff preprocessing equipment for compostable bag/packaging removal.
