Specifications include, but are not limited to: Location 1: Slope along VFW Highway, accessed by using the Pinanski and Costello Parking lots located at 205 Riverside St. There is no irrigation in this area and the watering will need to be monitored. • 12 Trees will be planted along slope at 40 foot intervals. Stakes will mark exact tree locations for planting. Stakes will mark exact tree locations for planting. Location 2: Planting, Sidewalk and Irrigation A: Planting Along VFW from North Campus Power Plant up to University Ave intersection. B. Repair sidewalk that runs from University Ave/VFW intersection down along Dandeneau Hall. It is roughly 350’ x 10’. All work will be done under the UMass Lowell concrete specifications, which is attached and are summarized below: • 6” thick, fiber mesh reinforced, with reinforcing metal mesh. • GC will be responsible for demolition, fill, compaction, forms, ADA compliance, concrete, concrete sealing, backfill, loam, planting grass, and street sweeping of construction site. • Expansion joints every 30’ and saw cut control joints within 24hrs every 6’-8’. • Concrete will be sealed with a Salt Shield clear sealant. (attached is the standard product used) • All sidewalks will be finished with ¼ round edges. Edge joints will not be re-tooled, eliminating the picture frame look. • Medium horsehair finish will be applied perpendicular to the walking direction. • GC to use existing curbing, and a tool joint will be added between the new concrete and the granite curbing. • Any asphalt cut will be cut and patched 4’ from curbing and must meet City of Lowell design standards. • GC will be responsible for scheduling, Police detail, all City of Lowell permits, City of Lowell inspection for asphalt road repairs etc. • All work will be in accordance with UML design standards- any deviations must be approved by UML Project Manager • Wherever a panel is disturbed, stainless steel pins will be used to tie into existing concrete • GC will be responsible for any damage to irrigation C: Install irrigation in this area. There is some irrigation on the building side of the sidewalk, but the lower end of that area is without irrigation and the entire slope area from University Ave to the North Power plant needs irrigation installed. We have a Baseline 1000 controller already installed for this addition. Hunter sprinkler heads are the required standard. See attached irrigation standards for any other clarification needed.
