Specifications include, but are not limited to: ItistheintentofthisspecificationtodescribeamixtureofSodiumChlorideType“A”crushed rock salt treated with corrosion inhibited liquid magnesium chloride product, with the end product being green or brown in color. The treatment is intended to enhance the performance of the product over untreated salt by increasing effectiveness, reducing corrosiveness, reducing bounce and scatter, preventing clumping, preventing salt pile freezing, enhancing flowability, and improving visibility. The enhanced deicer is intended to be used to facilitate snow and ice prevention and removal on roads and bridges. The finished and delivered product shall be composed of primarily naturally occurring rock salt, liquid magnesium chloride, corrosion inhibitors, and a dye for visibility. The treated salt product or the liquid additive shall be designed for environmental safety and shall either meet the “Safer Choice” criteria set by US EPA or be listed under the “Qualified Products List” of the Pacific Northwest Snow fighters Association. Bidders shall include proof of designation or listing with the bid. Any treated salt product or liquid additive without designation or listing will not be considered for award
