The Department of Energy Resources (DOER) will select schools serving low-income students where funding will support electrification and decarbonization. The goal is to demonstrate equitable, cost-efficient pathways to decarbonize a variety of school building types and provide replicable models for the Commonwealth to continue to support equitable access to healthy and resilient schools. TESI funding will be targeted at energy efficiency, decarbonization, on-site renewable energy generation, infrastructure and resiliency investments necessary to support cost efficient transitions away from fossil fuels. It can be used for: • Gap funding to enable schools to meet matching requirements for other programs supporting approved measures, such as Massachusetts School Building Authority’s (MSBA) Accelerated Repair Program (ARP) and MassCEC’s Green School Works (GSW) Grants. • Directly funding energy efficiency1 , decarbonization, and on-site renewable energy generation measures that are not receiving funding through MSBA and Green School Works. • Funding community engagement and resiliency investments to ensure decarbonization projects meet the needs of the communities they serve.
