A. The purpose of this project is to remove the existing slate roofing system including slate tiles, flashing, underlayment, plank decking as needed, and replace with new for the entire Town Hall Building in Amherst, Massachusetts. B. The project shall be designed as a two-phase roof replacement. However, it is the intent of the Town to complete the project in a single phase. The cost estimate should reflect both the single- and two-phase approach. C. The project includes salvaging, restoring, and reinstalling as much of the original slate and decorative copper details as possible. D. The design shall include snow retention equipment, materials, and layout. E. Any item requiring replacement will be accounted for in the documentation, with all adjacent or adjoining system components, material, or surface to be considered. F. The Amherst Town Hall Building includes an unfaded red slate roof with wood plank decking. New roofing slate tiles must be sourced from similar regions as the original roof.
