Specifications include, but are not limited to: The CCRTA is requesting separate bids for two types of services. While the CCRTA strongly prefers that prospective snow and ice contractors bid on both types of services, the CCRTA will accept bids on either of the services referenced below. 1. Lump Sum Contract with service to include twelve plowable events or up to 40” of total snow fall. Whichever may occur first. Services provided in excess of the base contract may be priced by a flat rate by the inch. In the event that an event exceeds twenty-four hours in duration, a second event is triggered. Records of total accumulated snow fall and or events will be from documentation provided by NOAA or other reputable source agreed to by CCRTA. 2. Services provided by a flat rate by the inch as bidder chooses in the pricing sheet in Section II-7. 1. Plowing of snow on all public surfaces within the facility to designated locations that will allow direct push (ie; curb line, the end of a parking lot, landscape islands etc.). Plowing will be performed using equipment designed for this purpose including wheel loaders, trucks with mounted hydraulic plows and skid steers. 2. Shoveling and snow plowing of all concrete walkways and concrete public surfaces will be performed and billed in accordance with the terms of the contract. 3. Snow will be pushed to designated locations within the immediate work areas, any relocation or removal operation will be billed separately. 4. Application of Ice melt products; Ice melt products will be billed per application including Equipment and labor. Vendor must specify ice melt product used for pretreatment. Note: It will be required to provide a pre-treatment for every known storm event; if freezing precipitation should occur unannounced an application of melting agent will be applied as early as possible. In the event of snow squalls, blowing snow, melting/refreezing conditions is the responsibility of the authority to immediately inform the contractor of all these hazardous conditions and the ordering of melting agents to be applied should quickly follow. Additionally, pre and post treatment of concrete walkway areas will be the responsibility of the CCRTA during regular business hours with weekend and holidays the responsibility of the contractor. The Plowing consists of: Main road plowing (Intersection of Centre St. to Iyannough Rd. along Transportation Ave including the bus terminal/circle area; and Paula George Way out to Ridgewood Rd). Parking lot plowing consists of East Long Term Parking lot and Short Term Lot. Other lots located on the site are NOT included in this RFP. The Sanding consists of all roadways including Transportation Ave., Paula George Way; and East Long Term Parking lot and Short Term Lot. The Hauling will be at the discretion of the CCRTA, and all snow will be moved to predetermined sites on the CCRTA property. Work to include: • Ice Melt applications pretreat prior to precipitation with potential additional spot applications and a post application for all weather events as described above (pre and post treatment of concrete walkway areas will be the responsibility of the CCRTA during regular business hours with weekend and holidays the responsibility of the contractor). • Plowing Service for parking lot and drive areas to begin at one and one-half inch snow accumulation. • Sidewalk/handwork services are included in this contract. Areas to be cleared are the large concrete pad areas and the walks; and all areas that have high public traffic such as the entrance ways, exits, and bus canopy. Areas that a plow truck or machine cannot access will be performed by the authority during normal business hours, weekend and holiday storm durations shall be the responsibility of the contractor. • Ice Control application to the parking lot and drive areas will be done before or during business hours prior to precipitation [pre-treat] and upon completion of plow service. In the event of an non-plowable winter storm event (i.e. freezing rain, ice storms, sleet), ice control application will be applied once within one (1) hour of storm start and a second and final application will be applied again within one (1) hour of storm end. Additional spot applications will be performed as needed. • Ice Control application to the concrete walkways will be done before or during business hours prior to precipitation [pre-treatment]. Pre and post treatment of concrete walkway areas will be the responsibility of the CCRTA during regular business hours with weekend and holidays the responsibility of the contractor. • Approved ice control product for the drive areas and parking lot included in this contract is a Salt Enhanced product. • Approved ice control product for the sidewalk/handwork service areas included in this contract is Vaporizer PRO-Grade Magnesium chloride / Calcium Chloride / Salt Brine with corrosive inhibitors. • All materials are guaranteed to be as specified. However, in the event of shortages, delays or strikes beyond contractor’s control, a reasonable substitute material may be utilized.
