Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. INSPECTION OF THE SITE(s) AND SUBMISSION OF S T A T E M E N T - Before submitting the proposal, the bidders are responsible to visit the bridges, examine its conditions, and thoroughly acquaint themselves with all obstacles and advantages of performing the work. 2. The contracted vendor shall clear the snow and or ice and spread salt, supplied by the City in quantities and methods all as directed by the City official. 3. The Contractor shall be capable o f; SNOW- Clearing Sidewalks of Snow and Ice; Application of Salt/Sand a f t e r a snowfall. The vendor may be asked to work, before during and after the snow fall in order to spread salt before the snow fall, (pre-treating). To clear the snow and to spread salt during the snow fall in order to make the bridge’s sidewalk safely passable to pedestrians and at the end of the storm if needed. The contracted vendors will perform such work whenever necessary as dictated by the Department Official and forecasted weather conditions. 4. O n c e t h e Contracted vendor is notified to start the work, he/she shall not stop until directed by the City official. In the case of multi day’s storms, the vendor must have the resources to relief the laborers who had worked beyond 16 straight hours straight with fresh ones. 5. The Contractor must clear the snow and apply salt in amounts and extent as directed by the contractor. Failure to follow instructions is a basis for disqualification. The Contractor must report first to 400 Frontage Road, and all his/her men must sign in and out on a sheet of paper as supplied by the authority. Failure to do so may result in non-payment to the vendor for said employee. The Contractor will be provided with salt pickup tickets in order to pick up the salt, which must be used on our sidewalks. The City salt must only be used on the bridges’ sidewalks, and failure to do so by using it anywhere else, will result in immediate termination of contract and possibly never working for the City of Boston projects again. 6. The contractor price will be per hour worked. Due to the nature of the snow operation, the Contractor shall be able to work any day of the week or any hour of the day. The HOURLY RATE shall be the same for the work during any time and day as mentioned herein. 7. The contractor unit price per must be for a two laborers and one pick-up truck crew. The pickup must have the capacity to carry a minimum of one-ton of salt. The laborers must be able to spread the salt using shovels from behind the truck. The contractor shall be required to submit an hourly rate for one laborer.
