Specifications include, but are not limited to: Contractor shall furnish driver/operator and vehicle with sanders, plows or spreaders. Snow hauling will not be awarded through this application process. The operation of snow hauling will be procured and awarded through a separate bid process. Contractor must be available any hour of the day, seven days per week, including holidays. Equipment and operators will be assigned districts at the discretion of the Director. Contractor shall arrive at his designated route within thirty minutes. The City will guarantee each selected Contractor a minimum of four hours. When contractor arrives in their area. Plowing shall be done as close to bare pavement as possible and to the maximum width, curb to curb, unless otherwise specified by the Supervisor and approved by the Director or his designee. Sanding or salting Contractors shall add calcium chloride provided by the City, to each load of sand or salt as instructed by the Director. If the Director determines that the Contractor is not performing as required, the City shall have the right to terminate the contracted service immediately upon verbal notice followed by written notice from the Director. Contractors will be assigned a city cellphone, or GPS unit to facilitate communications/ tracking between the D.P.S. and the Contractor. This unit will be in the truck and running during all times the contractor is on the clock providing the service for the city of Salem, no exceptions.
