1. All site activities are to be coordinated with the DPW Commissioner or Designee. 2. The City will purchase and provide two (2) complete Smith 28HE-4 boilers. The existing power burners and gas trains are 18 months old and will be reused on the new boilers. The City will store the new boilers near, but not inside, the Brown School boiler room located at 201 Willow Avenue, Somerville MA. 3. The city will conduct asbestos testing via a contracted environmental services firm on Wednesday, June 12th, 2025. The ACM test results will be issued as an addendum. 4. . Contractor will inspect all boiler components for damage prior to rigging components into boiler room. Damaged items must be immediately reported to the DPW Commissioner or Designee. Damage reported after rigging will be considered to have been caused by the Contractor, and the Contractor will replace damaged items at Contractor’s expense. 5. Contractor will: a. Obtain all required building permits from the City’s Inspectional Services Department prior to the beginning of the project, including hot-work permit and fire watch detail. Provide permit copies to the DPW Commissioner or Designee prior to start of project. b. Disconnect and make safe all utilities including city water, natural gas, electrical, and BMS controls systems. c. Demolish, remove, and properly dispose of the existing boiler flue piping off site. d. Disconnect the steam header and return piping only so far as needed for physical demolition of the old boiler and reinstallation of the new boiler. Temporarily support these items as needed. e. Disconnect and set aside the power burners and gas trains. These items will be reinstalled on the new boilers.
