The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) Bureau of Family Health and Nutrition (BFHN) is applying to Enhancing Reviews and Surveillance to Eliminate Maternal Mortality (ERASE-MM). The purpose of this grant is to develop and implement data-informed strategies to prevent pregnancy-related deaths and reduce disparities among disproportionately impacted populations by improving data availability and quality to better identify and characterize pregnancy-related deaths and related health inequities. Grant funding would allow the MDPH/BFHN and its partners to increase timeliness, comprehensiveness, and availability of information on strategies for prevention of pregnancy-related deaths and reduction of disparities in pregnancy-related mortality nationally. Grant funding also supports identification, characterization, and dissemination information on pregnancy-related deaths and opportunities for prevention. The grant objectives are as follows: Actions that improve availability, quality, and timeliness of MMRC data. Actions that improve multidisciplinary, population-level reviews of potentially pregnancy-related deaths and documentation of recommendations for prevention. Actions that improve dissemination, access to, and employment of quality Maternal Mortality Review Information Application (MMRIA) data to drive opportunities for prevention.
