Specifications include, but are not limited to: PWD seeks a Contractor to perform regenerative air vacuum sweeping and other maintenance on porous paving installations at multiple locations throughout the City on an on-call basis. ITEM #1 REGENERATIVE AIR VACUUM SWEEP POROUS PAVING SURFACES 1. Using a regenerative air vacuum sweeper the Contractor will vacuum sweep the following surfaces twice per year, or as requested by Project Manager: a. Porous asphalt b. Permeable pavers (pavers that are themselves porous) c. Porous paver installations (installations where the pavers are impervious, but gaps between pavers are permeable) d. Porous concrete slabs 2. Sweeping shall occur, at a minimum, in the spring and fall. a. Spring: after the last anticipated winter storm event b. Fall: after the final leaf drop for the season 3. After vacuum sweeping, bedding stone loss at paver joints shall be replaced in-kind. The Contractor will replace bedding stones within joints to an elevation at least 1⁄2” from the top of pavers. 4. The Contractor will reset or replace in-kind loose or damaged pavers. ITEM #2 POWER WASH POROUS PAVING SURFACES 1. The Contractor will power wash porous paving surfaces twice per year (spring/fall), or as directed by the Project Manager. a. All porous paving surfaces, as specified, will be washed by a mechanical power-washer to remove all dirt and debris with a water spray only; no chemicals or soaps shall be used. b. The power-washer shall be operated in a manner that does not damage the surface of the material being washed. ITEM #3 HYDRO JET CLEANOUTS 1. The Contractor shall hydro jet all cleanouts associated with porous paving installations twice per year, or as directed by the Project Manager. a. Spring: after the last anticipated winter storm event b. Fall: after the final leaf drop for the season ITEM #4 SNOW REMOVAL 1. The Contractor will plow or otherwise remove snow from porous paving surfaces within the project area for sites requested by the Project Manager (assume approx. five (5) - seven (7) sites per year). a. Snow removal shall occur two (2) hours or sooner after a snowfall of 1⁄2” or more (as measured at Logan Airport).
