The Department is soliciting agricultural marketing proposals from Massachusetts non-profit organizations. Proof of non- profit status is required as part of the proposal. It is highly encouraged that organizations that submit proposals under this RFR have developed successful programs that encourage the purchasing of local agriculture, which includes, where regionally permissible, locally harvested seafood, including, but not limited to, fish and shellfish. These programs are commonly referred to as “Buy Local” program initiatives. Proposals should be for projects that add to these efforts. Proposals should clearly demonstrate the organization’s ability to accomplish 1 or more of the objectives listed below. Proposal should describe the line-item budget, and schedule of work to be completed within the contract performance period, along with a detailed scope of work, which should describe how the above objectives under “Performance Specifications” shall be accomplished. For the purposes of this grant program, agricultural producers are individuals or entities primarily engaged in production agriculture as defined in M.G.L. c. 128, §1A. This includes the commercial cultivation, growing, or raising of agricultural, aquacultural, floricultural, or horticultural commodities intended for sale in the wholesale or retail market. Activities are focused on the production of food and other agricultural products for commercial purposes, not for personal or subsistence use.
