Groundwater Monitoring Wells • At least three (3) such wells: o One (1) well installed upgradient of the landfill to establish background water quality (near roadway); and o Two (2) wells installed downgradient of the landfill (along the eastern end of the property). • Any well intersecting the waste layer or landfill cover: o Boring logs to include sufficient information regarding the thickness of the cap, the composition of the cap materials, the thickness of the waste layer, and the composition of the waste layer. o Boring logs will document the soils present and the groundwater table. • A plan and procedure for installing downgradient wells to be proposed to DEP prior to work. Gas Wells • At least three (3) such wells: o Two (2) gas wells to be installed along the southwestern boundary bordering 92 Long Plain Road (with one placed even with the residence); and o One (1) gas well along the northwestern property boundary opposite the residence at 103 Long Plain Road. • Gas wells will be installed in accordance with the “Landfill Technical Guidance Manual (Revised 1997).” • Gas monitoring will be in accordance with 310 CMR 19.132(5) for the following parameters: %LEL, %oxygen, %carbon dioxide, and hydrogen sulfide concentrations. • The Town will notify DEP and take all necessary actions to protect human health and safety within the timeframes set forth at 310 CMR 19.132(5)(g&h) for any landfill gas exceedances.
