Specifications include, but are not limited to: 2.1 GROUP A: Mowing Spalding Field a. Approximate Size: Five acres of high-quality lawn with in-ground irrigation system. b. Special Requirements: mowing to be completed on weekdays (M-F) before noon. c. Mowing of Playing Areas. Weekly visits are required. A minimum of thirty-three (33) visits to each site on a weekly basis, or as directed differently from a Town of Carlisle representative. Grass is to be clipped to a length of 1 to 1.5 inches during peak playing seasons (spring and fall). Mowing operations include raking or dispersal of clippings, cleanup of mowing operations, and trimming of in-field chain link fence areas and bench areas. Note: For Spalding, the Playing area is defined as the entire area bounded by Church St., the school- side hill and tree line, and the tree line earth berm fall-off on the other two sides. The number of visits may be reduced in periods of drought and may increase during periods of rapid growth. d. Wood-line Trimming. Bi-weekly visits are required. A minimum of sixteen (16) visits to each contracted site on a weekly basis, or as directed differently from a Town of Carlisle representative. Trim tall grass around all fences, rock boundaries and the field perimeters. 2.2 GROUP B: Mowing Banta-Davis Field a. Approximate Size: Six acres total of high-quality lawn with in-ground irrigation system. This area includes the three playing fields and the grass areas bordering the fields up to the roadway, tree line, or undeveloped areas. b. Special Requirements: mowing to be completed on weekdays (M-F) before noon. c. Mowing of Playing Areas. Weekly visits are required. A minimum of thirty-three (33) visits for each contracted site on a weekly basis, or as directed differently from a Town of Carlisle representative. Grass shall be clipped to a length of 1 to 1.5 inches during peak playing seasons (spring and fall). Mowing operations shall include raking or dispersal of clippings, cleanup of mowing operations, and trimming of in-field chain link fence areas and bench areas. The number of visits may be reduced in periods of drought and may increase during periods of rapid growth. d. Mowing of Non-Playing Areas. Weekly visits are required in the spring and fall, biweekly visits are required in the summer months, or as directed differently from a Town of Carlisle representative. Grass shall be clipped to a maximum length of 3.5 inches. The area required for cutting includes the adjacent areas between the playing fields and roadway, a minimum of 50 feet of grass area outside the field of play; the grass area adjacent to the roadway leading up to the main parking area, the grass islands in the main parking area and the grass inside the irrigation pond fence. The defined field of play for the fenced ball fields is the fences, or in the absence of fences, the imaginary lines from the bench to the adjacent corner of the outfield. The defined field of play for the soccer field is the manufactured running track. e. Wood-line Trimming. Bi-weekly visits are required. A minimum of sixteen (16) visits for each contracted site, or as directed differently from a Town of Carlisle representative. Trim tall grass around all fences, rock boundaries and the field perimeters. 2.3 GROUP C: Diment Park Cleanup and Mowing a. Approximate Size: Area defined as Diment Park: from Spalding Field up to and including the tot-lot and tennis court areas to the school driveway. b. Special Requirements. Special attention is paid to safety for preschool aged children. c. Spring Clean-up. 1. Remove leaves and debris from the mulched areas, around and on the tennis courts and up to the school parking lot. 2. Spread DPW or Recreation Commission (RecCom) provided mulch. Note: Mulch in certain areas of the tot-lot is specialized for toddler play areas. 3. Trim tall grass and weeds in the mulched area paying special attention to removal of poison ivy. 4. Secure installed wind screening on fence around tennis courts and install/adjust tennis nets to correct level (i.e., not sagging). d. Mowing. Bi-weekly, a maximum of 15 visits. Trim grass along tennis court fence, around picnic tables, down the slope by the school drive/parking lot and around the shed. Weed wooded area between Church Street and tennis courts. If needed, spread DPW mulch. e. Fall Clean-up. As needed.
