Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of New Bedford (“City”) is seeking a feasibility study to provide the data needed for City leaders to thoughtfully plan and implement a communications infrastructure strategy that will benefit businesses first, then potentially residents, and anchor institutions for years to come. The primary focus is to explore options to utilize and expand the City’s fiber network for the provision of broadband services (e.g., Internet, VoIP) to commercial customers in the downtown area. The City seeks guidance on the best approach to maximize opportunities, resources, and revenues including whether to lease excess capacity to third party providers, provide broadband services directly to commercial customers, and/or whether to expand service offerings to City residents.
