Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Somerville Department of Public Works through its Purchasing Department is seeking a vendor for supply and delivery of bituminous concrete. Vendor will furnish class I bituminous concrete Type I-1, which will conform to Section 420 or 460 and subsection M3.11.00 of the current Massachusetts Department of Public Works Standard Specifications for Highways and Bridges, 1988 edition. Vendor will bid both a plant pickup price and a delivered price for Class I bituminous type I-1. This does not include any product as may be termed by a supplier as a so-called “high performance” winter patch product. This product may be considered if a bidder makes it available in a price offer under the firm’s letterhead, including the same with their bid response materials. The city reserves the right to award the contract to more than one vendor. Vendors will be capable of supplying class I bituminous type I-1, cold patch bituminous and bituminous pavers promptly and on short notice. It will be the general policy of the city to order at least 15 hours in advance, except in emergencies. Vendor’s plant must be located within an hour round-trip from the City of Somerville to facilitate and expedite the plant pick of bituminous by the Department of Public Works or its designees.
