Specifications include, but are not limited to: GENERAL DESCRIPTION All athletic fields will be mowed and trimmed on a weekly basis to maintain a neat, clean and uniform appearance. See pictures for field specifications. Mowing height will be determined in conjunction with the Director of Recreation and the Contractor as well as with discussions with the Turf Management Contractor, as needed seasonally. Heavy amounts of clippings (which would damage/burn the turf if left on the playing surface) should be dispersed using a backpack blower. All fence lines, dug outs, foul poles, bleachers, score boards, light poles, street signs, walls, concession stands, club houses, trees, shrubs, curbs, etc. at each field will be trimmed around during mowing/trimming process. In particular, all fence lines will be trimmed to a minimum of 2 feet either side of the fence. Weather permitting, mowing and trimming shall occur on the same day each week. All fields will be mowed and trimmed on the same day initiated; weather permitting. In no case shall more than 10 calendar days pass between mowing’s, unless approved in advance by the Director of Parks & Recreation. Fields shall not be mowed more frequently unless requested by the Director of Parks & Recreation. Mowing and trimming is for the timeframe between April – October. The cost for mowing shall be itemized on a per cut basis and trimming prices shall be on a per trimming basis of each entire area. Please price Opachinski Field Complex and Reed Field separately. MOWING EQUIPMENT The contractor shall provide all tools and equipment necessary to complete mowing and trimming as specified. All equipment shall be in good working order and manufactured by companies recognized for producing quality commercial turf equipment. Mower blades must provide a uniformed mowing height and all mower blades must be sharpened weekly. All mowers must be fitted with “turf” tires for minimal compaction. All mowing equipment must be fitted with proper safety shields, discharge chutes and properly silenced in accordance with manufacturer specifications. All mowing equipment shall be properly maintained and operated to ensure safety of operator and anyone within 300 feet. No equipment may be refueled or lubricated on any turf surface. All fuel and lubricants must be stored in appropriate containers and stored in contractor’s vehicle or trailer.
