Specifications include, but are not limited to: The project is a new two-story, 84,381 SF academic and research building at the University System of Maryland Southern Maryland, including classrooms, laboratories, conference spaces, and faculty offices. A concrete substructure is included for below grade foundation walls and footings. The building superstructure will be structural steel with concrete on metal decking. The skin consists of a variation of curtain wall, brick veneer; composite panels brick, window system with a corrugated perforated metal screen system in some locations. Interior finishes include items such as metal stairs, metal gratings and platforms, glass railings, drywall, acoustical, interior glazing, brick, wood paneling, carpet, vinyl flooring, lab flooring, polish concrete, tile, fabric wrap panels, & sound absorbing panels. Project also includes items such as accordion fire door, rolling doors, operable partitions, lab casework and equipment, anechoic chamber, RF shielding, and FF&E Lab Equipment, MEP systems include new HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, fire alarm, and complete low voltage systems for AV, Security, and Tele Data. The project is designed under the US Green Building Councils LEED 2009 for New Construction for a LEED Silver level rating. The warranty period shall be (2) years. Prevailing wage rates will be provided to the bidders.
